LEFT WITH ONLY SUNSETS

Another sun has burned away in front of my helpless eyes

Another day has gone by, when I was unable to see the same sun rise

The sun's bleeding beauty has been lost in the nights' darkness

No rising sun will release me from this blackness

My eyes could not hold your gaze as you walked away from me into the darkness

How quickly the lightning in your smile flickered way in the darkness

I wanted to hold out my hand to you, as you passed by me so silently

But alas, the night passed by so quickly; you walked by so swiftly

My last glimpse of your beauty was of your tear filled eyes

I held back my tears, but could not stifle the hearts cries

The setting sun left so many different shades to fight the dark night

They tried to maintain their brilliance in the waning light

But none fought as defiantly as the scarlet red

That scarlet red

-the last remaining beauty of the sun as it slumbers into the night

But like all beauties, it captivates its admirer even while disappearing out of his sight

Even beauty must give way to darkness

Leaving only memories of once was before the blackness

Leaving only hope of what may be again

Even though the hope remains in vain

I saw the same scarlet in the steps you took away from me

I first saw it on the lips that denied your smile from me

I last saw it in your tear filled eyes, as you walked into the darkness

Leaving me standing alone in my own darkness

Leaving my heart without hope of seeing you again

Leaving my heart alone in its' pain

The setting sun left only a few faint beams of the moon to provide a guiding light

Some brave souls held out their own burning torches to find their way through the night

But no moon will ever be able to guide me back to you

You may return, but you shall never see the burning torch my heart holds for you

The night's darkness will always lose against the rising sun's light

The sun's fire will always radiate the torches used to fight the night

But no suns' light can lead me to you

You cannot find me in the darkness, when you cannot see the unlit torch I hold out to you

I find myself alone in the darkness

The setting sun has left me alone in the darkness

Every night I return to see the same sun set again

Every night I try to hold on to it's disappearing beauty in vain

Every night I am haunted by the memories of the beauty that walked away from me

Every night I curse myself for not asking her to stay with me

Now, I am alone in the darkness

There is nothing but empty silence and darkness

I have been burnt by the torch I could not hold out to you

My eyes have been blinded by the eclipse that followed you

The only light that remains for me is the brief flicker of the setting sun

I am left with only the hopeless dream of our becoming one
