Forever My Dear

Your eyes stare blankly through the window at the rain Your shrunken body convulses, even morphine can't kill the pain An evil, unforgiving virus deteriorates your body, your mind Under a nation's watchful eye they don't want to say good-bye

Your families cries haunt a once silent, crowded hall The President calls but you can barely talk On t.v. regular updates all through the end of your life Millions can only wonder will he beat this, can he survive

Is he alive is he dead Does his body live or lie coldly still in the hospital bed

A beating heart slowly winding down, you take a few lasts breaths A figure dressed in black, here he comes, can't cheat Death Last chance to say I love you lover's final embrace Today is the day no one can bravely face

One last nightmare to dream now's the time to say good-bye One last beat of your heart one last breathe to breath your body has just died An example to millions who have a chance to change their fate Or will the be fools and not listen have their hearts plunged by the stake

He is not alive alas he is dead His body lies cold in the morgue not in a warm, soft bed

Freedom taken for granted love still made unsafe Protection thought unnecessary apparently forgotten but wait Have we learned nothing from those gone before us Their stories never more clear You will be loved and remembered forever, forever my dear.
