Poetry

I had an old friend, by and by He wasn't much more than a passerby. Could he not fly?

For all things he wanted, More than that which life flaunted His work had haunted.

In his sleep, he would dream Of a lily-padded mountain stream But there was work to be done It wasn't much fun, But all he knew was to run.

In the end, all he bought Was not anything for which he had fought Was his life for naught?

I urge: Be ready to fall in love And to fly like a dove Set a fire to your eyes! Rest not 'till you win first prize! Live not for tomorrow, So little time to borrow.
